The Shenzhen Creative Design Alliance is a Shenzhen Central Government backed initiative. The alliance was formerly established March 2014 between the traditional industries that served as the backbone of Shenzhen’s rapid 30 year growth.
Shenzhen CDA aims to improve marketing strategies and promotional activities for these industry sectors while also promoting “Made in Shenzhen” as a brand. Shenzhen remains the most important manufacturing region for these industries and individual brands are beginning the transition from OEM to design focused branding of their labels.
While promoting these brands, focus on promoting the City of Shenzhen is also a stated focus of the alliance. Shenzhen is China’s first “Special Economic Zone” (SEZ). Deng Xiao Ping created the city during his push for economic reforms of the late 1970’s. “To get rich is glorious” he once stated, and Shenzhen has taken this motto to heart. Shenzhen is China’s wealthiest city with the highest GDP per capita standing at five times the national average.
The unification of these traditional eight industries in the form of the Shenzhen CDA is key to Shenzhen’s development. As the population becomes wealthier, consumers demand innovative and brand centric products. This is the next stage in development for the local manufacturers and the Shenzhen CDA aims to develop the strategies these industries need to market to the new wave of consumers, creating China’s ideal home grown brands.
